Bio




Alvaro Ibarra is a committed cultural manager and musician, convinced of the positive impact of arts and culture in our society. A conductor, early music player, and guitarist, graduated with a Master's in Music degree from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he works as a Research Assistant and was awarded a Junior Fellowship during 2023/24. In 2022, he also obtained a Master's in Cultural Project Management and Entrepreneurship degree from Universidad Internacional de la Rioja.
Now an alumnus at Goodenough College, he was the Principal Conductor of the Goodensemble Orchestra and Social and Cultural Co-Chair during his stay at the college during 21/23. This led him to be the current recipient of the “Carlos Fuentes Award” by the Embassy of Mexico in the UK, MexSocUK, and the British Council last year.
As an early music promoter, he worked in the development of "Sones de la Nueva España”, a baroque orchestra and dance production as project manager and conductor financed by the Nuevo Leon Arts and Culture Council. Alvaro has performed in Festivals internationally in Austria, the UK, and Mexico, such as in the London International Festival of Early Music, Monterrey International Guitar Festival, and Bloomsbury Festival, among others.
